Description:

A teaching assistant (TA) is expected to attend all class sessions of the ART 1010-01 course in person, starting from the first day of classes. The class meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:00 am - 11:15 am. The TA’s duties include taking student attendance and assisting with iClicker polling, class quizzes, and other class activities. In-between class meetings the TA will be asked to record attendance in Canvas, grade quizzes, and record scores in Canvas. All duties should be performed regularly and without delay. Additionally, the TA should be available at the beginning of the semester to meet with the class one time in the afternoon or evening hours in case students have course-related questions. Throughout the semester the TA needs to be able to answer students’ emails and answer their questions about how the Canvas course site works, what the course requirements are, and how to take quizzes with Proctorio, among others. Potential candidates will work closely with and assist the instructor with teaching-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

The TA must be reliable and have good communication skills. They must understand how Canvas course site and iClicker application work. The instructor will show the TA how the iClicker application works at the beginning of the semester. Ideally the TA has already taken an ART 1010 course or an Art History course, but it is not required. The TA will have to take FERPA training to be added to Canvas course site.
